Leaning back against the side of a boat, Kalyani was allowing the rhythmic lull of the boat going over the waves to help her relax. Eyelids drooping, she almost missed the person speaking to her. It was the old fisherman who had kindly agreed to take her to a different island. He spoke again, this time Kalyani caught the words, “We’re here miss.”

A large yawn escaped her mouth as Kalyani rose to her feet. She clambered out of the fishing boat and onto the awaiting dock, “Thanks for the ride mister!” She told the fisherman before pivoting on her foot and heading up the dock, towards shore. After such a long and dull boat ride a drink sounded rather nice so Kalyani made her way to the nearest bar.

She had absolutely no clue what island she was on or what the town was called, but she really didn’t care. Her entire goal was to find a crew that could accompany her in her travels and help her achieve her goal of becoming a Yonko. In order to complete all that, she needed a crew, but her search had been coming up empty handed for a while now. Pushing open the door to the bar she stepped inside and found herself a seat at the counter.

”What’ll you have?” A bartender asked approaching her.

“Oh, hmm, how about a glass of rum,” Kalyani decided not wanting anything fancy.

The bartender nodded and slipped away to pour her drink. Kalyani let her gaze travel over the other customers present in the room. Not too far from her two men were arguing, and both were obviously angry. It didn’t take longer for a minute for them to start punching it out. Kalyani turned her gaze forward as the room behind her exploded into a large messy brawl.

The bartender returned with her drink. Thanking him, Kalyani lifted the glass to her lips to take a sip. That was when things went sour. One of the fighters bumped into her causing Kalyani to spill the rum all over herself. She stood so fast that her stool was knocked down. She spun to face the brawlers fury alight in her gaze as she sought out the one that had brought about the spilling of her rum. She had no idea who had really done it, but she decided to blame the two who had started the brawl. She spotted one nearby and stalked over to him.

Her actions were nothing fancy, she just pulled her arm back and punched the guy in the face.

[Serious] The Makings of a Crew (The Kali Pirates) Empty Re: [Serious] The Makings of a Crew (The Kali Pirates)

A new life at last. She thought as she stepped off the passenger ship. It was a relatively good trip for the youth, seeing as she bought the best room her stolen money could buy, filled with a comfy bed and some delicious meals to top it off. She checked her bag and found she still had plenty of money and other valuables to sell and hock for rooms and meals for what looks like a month, more or less. Not many people payed mind to her; As far as they were concerned, she was just another youth in the mass of the faceless crowds. She had high hopes for her future, and determination to walk her towards her dreams.

Young Saren casually strolled into town and looked around at the sights before her. The setting was similar to her hometown, but it looked larger and didn't have a mansion sticking out like a sore thumb. It was, in all senses, a nondescript looking town. No matter, even it was somewhere that looked as generic as this, there was sure to be opportunities hidden around in bars or weapon stores around here. Right?

She wandered the town aimlessly glancing at all the buildings and constructs of this town. The people here looked and sounded pretty friendly also, going about with their days buying groceries, getting drunk, working, who knows what else they could be doing? She passed by the local tavern and wondered if she should get her first alcoholic drink here. It was tempting, very tempting for Saren, but she remembered the smell of booze and garbage, but mostly the booze, on the homeless men she had helped before and quickly became reluctant to even go in there at all! She did, however, see a scuffle break out and almost everyone in there jump up and start clobbering each other with no mercy! One look was all it took to make her leave.

"Yeah...Let's not go in there." She said quietly to herself before hastily walking away from this now ruined establishment.

[Serious] The Makings of a Crew (The Kali Pirates) Empty Re: [Serious] The Makings of a Crew (The Kali Pirates)

Inside a bar sat a young man, shoulder length messy orange hair, face piercing and teal eyes that scanned the area as he sipped his drink. Aleks let out a sigh as he leaned back in his seat, placing his feet up on his table. He looked around the area, the town was dead end, nothing major ever happened here and Aleks was quite frankly bored of the place. However for the first time in the past two hours he had been in the bar the doors opened to someone new, a blond, pale skinned woman. Aleks sighed "I need off of this island." he muttered. That's when a drunken man had approached his table and bumped his chair, knocking him over.

Standing up Aleks dusted himself off, the drunkard laughed "What'za gon' do bout it kid?" the man laughed. Aleks looked at the man for half a second before deciding what he'd do, which was give a man a strong right hook knocking him to the ground. The man got up and begin hitting Aleks but due to the man's lack of training and Aleks above average resilience it did next to nothing to him. Eventually the entire bar was fighting and Aleks had knocked out his opponent, that's when he got a punch to the face he didn't truly expect. He pulled his fist back with a growl and launched forward before stopping, seeing it was the woman.

His eye twitched in irritation before dropping his fist. That's when another man had grabbed him and thrown him into the bar, shattering several bottles of alcohol. Standing up drenched Aleks clenched his fist and his body began to light on fire. Which in turn also caused that back of the bar to catch on fire due to all of the alcohol pooling. The people began running out except for the man who threw him into the bar, he was caught by an oddly chain shaped flame and pulled towards Aleks who began beating him before throwing him out of the window. Looking at the woman he spoke "Now would be a good time to leave."

Kalyani had been prepared to block the punch of the man she had punched, but didn’t have to. He had stopped himself from hitting her. Huh, a softie for women. Works for me I guess. She thought before opening her mouth to start yelling at him for ruining her favorite dress. Kalyani never got the chance. Another man had grabbed him and thrown him into the bar.

The sound of shattering glass caught the attention of a few nearby brawlers, but what caught Kalyani’s attention was the fire. Not only did it seem to appear out of nowhere, but it seemed to be a part of the man who was now standing on the bar. The flames quickly found the spilt alcohol and the area behind the bar was engulfed in flames. These hungry flames didn’t stay back there though, they began to eat up the entire building slowly but surely.

Kalyani felt people pushing past her in a mad scramble to escape the burning building, but she was too busy watching as Aleks beat the man who had thrown him into the bar then threw him out a window. He must be a devil fruit user aswell. she thought as her mind drifted to her own devil fruit abilities. That was before he spoke to her.

“Oh you don’t say? I thought I’d stay here and see if the flames would help darken my skin tone.” Kalyani huffed her voice dripping with sarcasm, she was still mad about having rum all over her dress. With that said, she spun on her heels and left the building, following the last few people scrambling to get to safety.

[Serious] The Makings of a Crew (The Kali Pirates) Empty Re: [Serious] The Makings of a Crew (The Kali Pirates)

So the bar wasn't the place to go for resources and opportunities that would suit Saren, even though that's usually the place to go other than a Marine office for bounties to hunt. As much as she'd like to do that, it sounded like a lot of work and plenty like gambling. Ugh, that word disgusted her. Gambling, the act her father did to exploit her of her talents. Worst part is that she didn't even get any of the cash he made at all! What a cheapskate that good-for-nothing father was! Well, she'll show him and everyone in her family. She'll show them that Saren is the one with the power and the money! But alas, it's going to be quite a journey to reach that point. For her, she hoped that it wasn't going to be too long.

As she walked away from the tavern, Saren heard somebody yell, "Fire!" She immediately turned around and saw the bar up in flames for some reason! A fight breaks out and now there's a fire? What in the world went on in that fight anyways? The flames blazed on as the youth blindly stared at the scene like it was some sort of amazing magic show. Who knows what could've happened. She was about to leave when she saw people starting to filter out of the fiery deathtrap and just watched them. Look at those men, wasting their money on poison and walking out battered, bruised and burnt. A shameful display of the ugliness of the middle class. She simply scoffed at them and continued to watch the people and the fire. However, there was this one woman that had caught her attention. It seemed like she also participated in the brawl, which made Saren curious about why a woman like her would group herself with such...people.

Eh, let's talk to her. The hatted youth thought to herself. And so she casually strolled up to the woman and immediately acknowledged her pristine beauty. Porcelain skin, flowing locks of hair, not to mention possibly flawless features, she could be a noble for all Saren knew! And yet she sat down at a run-down tavern with the middle-class! There was absolutely no possible way this lady of beauty wasn't some kind of noble. Although her beauty was stunning, it still irked the youth because she was more pretty than her. After moments of circling around her with a confused expression on her face, Saren finally spoke up to her.

"Madame, are you of nobility from somewhere?"

"Well you could use a tan." Aleks replied in an irritated tone, woman or not he disliked being spoken to as such. Walking out after the last few patrons and the woman Aleks was met with yells of demon and monster from the crowd who had came and saw the fire. It seemed the drunkards had spread rumors of him to the crowd after he set fire to the bar. Perhaps this island didn't know of devil fruit, he didn't care, instead he decided to play along. Flames erupted from his skin as he let out a laugh of a maniac, which admittedly at this point he probably was. "YES I AM A DEMON SENT FROM THE DARK OVER LORD HADES TO COLLECT ON DEBTS, I SHALL DRAG ALL HERE INTO THE INFERNO THAT IS MY LONG CORRUPTED BODY AND DEVOUR SHOULD THEY NOT BE PAID IN FULL!" the flames grew as his voice did in added effect, at this point he truly was over doing it.

However it was working on the crowd of onlookers and drunks who out of fear began collecting their belli and valuable items into a make shift sack made out of an apron, all together several golden items, jeweled rings and a decent sum of 2000 belli. Aleks was giddy on the inside he couldn't believe this was working, he figured he'd stop while he was ahead "THIS SACRIFICE SHALL APPEASE MY LORD FOR NOW, YOU ARE ALL NO LONGER OF USE, GO!" fire once more exploded off the young man making the group of drunks and superstitious people run off. Aleks then began counting the belli and items in the make shift sack.

[Serious] The Makings of a Crew (The Kali Pirates) Empty Re: [Serious] The Makings of a Crew (The Kali Pirates)

Post by Izu Wed Jun 18, 2014 8:52 am

Kalyani had stepped off to the side and watched as the building slowly burned. Her attention was quickly drawn to the blonde girl that was now circling her.  She watched the girl calmly, studying her closely. This habit had been born as Kalyani searched for crew members. Placing one hand on her hip, Kalyani waited for the girl to speak, figuring she would say something; however, she wasn’t expecting the question that was asked of her.

The first and foremost reaction Kalyani had was to burst out laughing. “Me? A noble? No way! I was born and raised in a poor village. What makes you think I’m a noble?” She questioned after her laughter subsided. She was intrigued by this girl, after all, it was rare for Kalyani to be mistaken for a noble. She would have paid more attention to her as well had the guy whom had burnt down the tavern not started a ruckus.

She watched as he claimed to be a demon sent to collect debts from Hades. She scowled as the drunkards quickly bought the scheme and started pulling out valuables. This brought a scowl to her lips, “Fools, the lot of them. Have they never heard of the devil fruits?” she muttered turning herself turning away from the scene.

“Hey girl, what’s your name anyways?” She asked returning her attention to the girl that had asked if she was a noble. “I’m Kalyani.”

[Serious] The Makings of a Crew (The Kali Pirates) Empty Re: [Serious] The Makings of a Crew (The Kali Pirates)

The fire burned on in the building a few meters away from the ladies, and both of them didn't seem to pay much attention to it. Saren, on the other hand, was paying more attention to that...male person thing...He was extorting the middle-class out of their goods and valuables. What kind of magical fire powers does he have? Where did he get them? At first glance, the youth was a little frightened by him but immediately saw through his ruse once he started his little act about being a demon from hell. That was way too silly, and after all, demons and fairies were just children's tales told to kids to spook them or distract them long enough to get out of their parents' hairs. After that happened, she finally realized what this beautiful lady asked her.

She wasn't a noble? How could that be? This woman piqued Saren's curiosity more than ever, so she spoke her mind once again. "Well, the way you dress is one thing. Very nice shades of blue you have on you, it looks very elegant on you, but I don't think it suits you perfectly. Oh, and your looks! Your skin looks so flawless and fair! Have you ever been out in the sun, 'cause it looks mag-I mean, it's very noble-esque, if you know I mean." She tried her best to conceal the fact that she absolutely loved how this lady looks, she didn't really do too well at it. She tried to look unimpressed too, even though her tone of voice contrasted her facial expression by a mile.

Saren looked back at the "demon" still extorting goods and just stared at them with a blank expression on their face. Come on, Saren thought to herself. His acting is worse than...Something that's really bad at acting. Darn it, I can't think of anything that's bad at acting! When the lady returned her attention back to the youth, she did the same. She asked for her name, but the latter was a little reluctant to give out her name. "Oh, my name is...It's Saren." She didn't know why she was reluctant, but the way she looked was way too much better than Saren's! Jealousy, probably why.

[Serious] The Makings of a Crew (The Kali Pirates) Empty Re: [Serious] The Makings of a Crew (The Kali Pirates)

Post by Colm Mon Jun 23, 2014 6:00 pm

The sun was blazing and the waves were rocking gently out on the ocean, at least for the time being it seemed to be a nice day. Floating along without much care was one Johnny Ringo who had actually fallen asleep after being out at sea for who the hell knows how long. In actuality it had probably only been a couple of hours but when you were alone in a small boat boredom set in quickly and with nothing better to do a nap seemed like a grand idea. Bumping into one of the few piers stationed at the docking area of the island Johnny felt a shake and slowly opened one eye. He quickly decided this was a bad idea as god's wrath quickly rained down into his eye and nearly blinded him for life. Gah, damn it that's bright. After a few moments he managed to get himself sorted out and sat up, looking around and blinking ever so slowly to get himself adjusted. Once he was fine Johnny grabbed onto the pier and hoisted himself over, glancing down at the boat he shrugged, he wasn't going to be needing that thing anymore. Turning away from it he set off into town, he didn't have a destination in mind and as always he had no idea where the hell he was even at, but there was one thing he knew. Johnny needed a drink. He started trying to piece together what the time was, it was a bit difficult though considering how long he had been asleep and how bright it was outside, so either he hadn't been asleep long at all or he'd set out much earlier than he thought. It didn't matter though, he was here and that was all that mattered.

Walking through the streets Johnny saw some people in the streets, they were walking and talking, doing business and just generally carrying out with their everyday lives. Glancing from side to side every few minutes Johnny looked for some sort of sign pointing to a bar, sadly nothing came up but he figured he'd find one sooner or later, he always did. Several minutes passed and suddenly there was a boom off in the distance, turning his head Johnny could see smoke rising into the air. There was a part of him that wondered what was going on but honestly it was nowhere near his problem. Standing there for a few moments he watched the blackness attempt to overtake the clouds and bright sky, he heard yelling and glanced down to see people running in terror. A smirk crept across his face and he made the decision to go and see what was going on. Walking over to the oncoming horde he attempted to ask people what was going on as they ran by. Excuse me-. Sir I w-. Could you te-. One by one they all ran past Johnny and he was getting fed up with this being ignored business, he waited for the next guy coming his way and moved in front of him at the last moment, kneeing him in the stomach. The guy dropped to his knees with a grunt and looked up at Johnny, there was still some fear lingering but it was quickly turning into anger and hate. Say something I don't like and you're going down for a while. It was clear the man was pissed off but he simply gritted his teeth and nodded his head. Alright cool. Now... what the hell is going on over there? Some stupid punk set the bar on fire! He was some kind of flaming freak of nature. Johnny could feel his eye twitch, he simply stood there for a few moments before exhaling deeply and pinching the bridge of his nose for a moment to help calm himself down. Somebody always had to destroy the freakin bar. Leave. Now. The man could tell Johnny was in a foul mood and was definitely not to be messed with, he simply got back on his feet and continued to run. After calming himself down a tad Johnny started down the path all the screaming townsfolk had come from, as he approached the cloud of smoke and source of flames Johnny could see a few individuals who seemed like they were alright with being near the site of a disaster. Continuing his way on to them Johnny started trying to figure out who was behind screwing up his day. Who destroyed the bar? Come on, out with it. Speak up now and I promise It'll only hurt a little.

[Serious] The Makings of a Crew (The Kali Pirates) Empty Re: [Serious] The Makings of a Crew (The Kali Pirates)

Post by Izu Fri Jun 27, 2014 11:48 am

(Alright, since Roy is gone for two weeks, we'll just skip him in the rotation of posts until he returns.)

"Well Saren, It's nice to meet you." Kalyani said with a half smile. "Now you say the blues don't fit me perfectly, which color would you suggest? It seems I have to find some new clothing anyways thanks to that bar fight." Her voice was casual, though the fact that Saren seemed to be impressed by her, made Kalyani want to talk to this girl more. She was now tuning out the 'demon,' finding his actions foolish and unnecessary.

"Oh, and maybe we should step away from this burning building, its not exactly the safest place here right now." Kalyani added the suggestion as an after thought. Her relaxed demeanor suggested the burning building didn't actually phase her. Tucking stray strands of her blonde hair behind ear, Kalyani turned and walked away from the building hoping that Saren would follow her. Maybe I'll invite Saren to join my crew, she seems good. Kalyani thought with a small smile.

She paused when a new and angry sounding voice caught her attention. An angry looking young man was nearby asking who had burnt down the bar. "The culprit of this mess is right over there. He's claiming to be a demon and cheating some of these people out of their valuables." She called pointing to Aleks. A small smirk crossed her face, enjoying the possibility of ruining the performance Aleks had put on to cheat people out of their money and valuables.

What colour would Saren suggest? Pfft, nothing that'd actually look good on her. Maybe some drab olive, doesn't look like it looks good on women anyways. After pretending to think for a bit, Saren finally spoke with some ill intention. "I think some drab olive would look absolutely dashing on you!" She said as she playfully did tiny hops and jumps around Kalyani. She seemed like a good person, The youthful girl thought to herself, Is she really the type of person to be in bar brawls?

Complying to the suggestion of moving away from the burning building, Saren followed Kalyani quickly, hoping to not fall victim to any unfortunate happenings near that place. She wasn't ready to die yet, not just yet. Not until she goes back home holding billions and buying out her family and tossing them into the ocean like pond scum. She quickly shook the violent thoughts out of her head and continued to follow Kalyani until she stopped. The blonde youth looked again at the blaze but quickly got bored of it. There was that "demon" still milking the act with his fire powers, and now there was a new person who just arrived!

He looked quite angry and a little distraught about the bar burning down. Just go to the general store and buy some booze there, ya drunk. Saren thought to herself. The guy didn't seem like anything special, but he did look quite nice. A quick thought passed through her head but she said out loud, "Nah, probably too old." No context was given, and she just acted like she didn't say anything after that.

Aleks paid no mind to the woman talking, he instead was counting his money and enjoying it. He'd be able to buy a ship in no time with weekly "sacrifices" of their hard earned money. That was when a man had come by and spoke, asking of who had burned down the bar and that it'd 'only hurt a little'. Standing up from where he was sitting Aleks stretched and let out a yawn, not intimidated by the man. "You're looking at him, how can I help you? Need some beef roasted? How about an orphanage to burn down? Set your grandmother on fire to collect your inheritance?" Aleks was of course being sarcastic, for the most part. He probably would set someone on fire but not a woman. Aleks leaned against a building and awaited the man's response.
