Appearance:
Lyceum Tate Traditional Appearance:

Lyceum stands at a height of 6ft tall with slightly reddish skin. His hair is brown. Over his chin he has a little bit of facial hair and a cut across his nose. Thin black eye brows and black eyes. Out of the left side of his mouth he has a fang like tooth protruding. His body is weathered and muscular. Over his torso he wears a pale green short sleeve shirt & white doctor's coat with green surgeon pants and nothing on his feet. Around his belt he wears a satchel filled with orange medicine bottles, two scalpels, a hook and a sewing thread.

Personality:

Lyceum is a lazy man with a lifetime of memories. He likes to nap and reflect on his previous life and his youth but he knows that he has done bad things in his previous life. It doesn't bother him too much but more what he didn't do in his youth is what bothers him. He has been through some horrible things which have caused him to become a doctor. He hates seeing a person in such a horrible situation unless they deserve it. He likes to help people but only if they warrant his help. If a person has done something bad then he will not make their situation worse but he will leave them to be dealt with by another instead of himself. The thought of saving the life of a man who would bring about such evil to others angers him. Lyceum hates seeing how guns can make the weakest of people so powerful and thus he HATES firearms with a passion. He views those who use them as weak and pathetic. Swordsmen he respects for their bravery and people who use no weapons at all he respects all the more for their bravery or sometimes their suicidal actions.

With friends he likes to be the silent observer and watch things unfold around him instead of actually get involved. The only things in his life which bring him joy currently are watching people flourish and do the things he never did in his own life. He knows the regrets he has and doesn't wish them to have the same ones he does now. Lyceum however holds a very high appreciation for the female form and has even been known to treat females first and for much much longer as well as try to cop a feel when operating on them which often results in a slap or the worst case scenario a hook through his cheek. But he shrugs these attacks off as he understands why he gets attacked. Lyceum is an addict mostly to pain killers as he was born with very minor scoliosis. So minor it hardly stops him from his work but it does hurt enough for him to acknowledge it. He is unable to ignore it thus he takes allot of pain killers for it. Over the years he developed an addiction for pain killers hes been trying to kick but has been unable to do so.

When it comes to the sin's he suffers from lust & sloth would be his two strongest. He appreciates the female form allot to the point where he may even schedule check ups for the ladies in case of "cancer" so he'll have to check them over and even make up other excuses too such as "You have a cough? Take your clothes off and put them next to mine." He enjoys to joke allot throughout his operations, checkups and surgery but when things get serious he will tend to go silent. Wrath, Envy, Pride, Greed & Gluttony are pointless sins he doesn't suffer from in the least. All in all he is a lazy addict with perverted implications who occasionally takes naps.

Character History
"Narcotics, Tragedy & a Curse"

Background

Born 55 years ago in the South Blue Lyceum came into life with a fully fledged somersault & scoliosis. As a young happy child he enjoyed rushing around as any reckless child would climbing trees, falling out of trees, scraping with other children & even dogs. He was always getting dirty and into trouble at home with his family & others. His father raised him on his own as Lyceum's mother died in child birth. Growing up without any real motherly figure he was raised by his less than affectionate father. But being the child he was he didn't ever really learn about motherly affection and he didn't miss it. At the age of 16 his town was caught up in a fight between revolutionaries and marines when a series of new taxes were put in place.

Protesting along with other citizens Lyceum was dragged to the protests and after a short period of time in which they protested Marines were allowed to use force to get rid of them as the protesters were becoming a pain. The protesters returned with force of their own but during the conflict Lyceum was hit around the head with a baton and knocked unconscious. Waking up in the hospital he had stitches and found his father badly beaten in the hospital bed beside him. Lyceum had gotten off lightly as he'd just had his head cracked open whilst his father had broken arms, a fractured skull & lost one of his eyes. Seeing the horrific condition his father was in Lyceum sat over him crying his eyes out. Looking down he cried over his father's chest till his dad told him he would be fine. When a nurse came to take his father away to operate on his eye Lyceum was taken away to have his stitches checked on.

Whilst he sat in the room crying the nurse told him his father would make a full recovery and be fine. Lyceum said he hated feeling helpless and wanted to help his dad out and when the nurse saw this in him she said he could study to be a doctor but Lyceum was too reckless and stupid to become one. Or so he thought. Shaking his head and refusing he left and returned to his father.

After their time in the hospital and return home they discovered how this fight over taxes had spiraled out of control. Threats were being issued from both sides about who should be in charge and much much more. After 3 months of threats Marine forces were sent out to arrest everyone who took part in the protests and the revolution. Breaking down their front door to arrest Lyceum's father they contemplated over arresting his son Lyceum but before they had the chance he climbed out the window and ran into the woods. Hiding he cried day after day knowing his dad was in prison and there was nothing he could do. After so many days in the woods barely eating and starving himself as he felt like he didn't deserve food, he was found by one of the protesters who had avoided arrest.

The man explained to him that he too had fled to the woods after they arrested the town. Taking Lyceum with him he told him that he planned on attacking the prison and freeing everyone but he would need help. Lyceum told him he couldn't help as he was still too young. The man told him he would gather a few others to help out. Scared of getting involved Lyceum refused to get involved and attempted to run away. As he tried though he was stopped by this man who told him it was alright if he didn't want to fight. Lyceum was still just a scared child without a father.

The man told him that he could learn how to treat the wounded people when they returned. This was the second temptation for him to become a doctor. The first being he could help his dad. If you wish to learn, I can take you to someone who can teach you. the man told Lycem and after a short contemplation Lyceum took his offer. Taking Lyceum to the docks the two stole a small rowing boat that night and set sail for a small island just out of view of Lyceum's home.

It was a small island where an old female doctor lived. Meeting Lyceum she showed an instant disliking towards him as he was a reckless child, but when she got to know him she felt a little more sympathy. He had lost his father and never had motherly affection. The doctor agreed to look after Lyceum and raise him as her own whilst the man went off to gather resistance.

Over 10 years Lyceum grew into a smart young man who was allot less reckless. He managed to get diagnosed for his scoliosis which had given him problems since birth and the doctor provided him with some pain killers for regular usage and taught him how to make them out of herbs & other medicines. The man whose had managed to make a name for himself throughout the seas as 'Redbeard' returned to the small island with a large ship asking Lyceum & the doctor for help. They had rescued the prisoners and even gathered a crew but some men had fallen ill whilst their stay in the prison whilst others had suffered from fatal wounds. Agreeing Lyceum quickly got to work on each patient. When he paused looking over a woman's chest he found himself curious as to what lay beneath the place he was operating on and slightly peeling her clothing down to take a glance he got a hook to the face which went through his cheek. He had been sewing up her hand but left the needle in her hand whilst he worked above her breasts.

Peeling the hook out he continued to work on her and as he worked on the female patients he started to slow down showing an obvious 'appreciation' for the female form. Taking Lyceum aside annoyed at his lustful desires she took him into her house and unveiled her own weathered, sagging body to him to put him off. Shielding his eyes at the sight the doctor laughed and Lyceum quickly got back to work on the patients. As he reached the final man he didn't recognize him.

He was old and had bad scars all over his body. Cleaning the man's face and brushing his long hair aside Lyceum checked for a pulse and the man's injuries to see there was none. He wasn't injured nor ill, nor was he breathing. When he took a second glance at the man he saw that it was his father who had died of old age. Burying him on the island followed by 6 months of mourning Lyceum vowed to his teacher he would do everything and anything he could to help those in need.

Joining up with Redbeard Lyceum offered his help as an accomplished doctor. Sailing from the South Blue where they had managed to save people and take back their own home town Lyceum wanted to help others all around the world. Setting off and into the great blue yonder the crew stopped off at various island helping out in the revolutionary fights. Lyceum stayed back with all of the medics taking care of patients at camp to avoid bounties. Whilst man after man came in for wounds Lyceum and other doctors got to work quickly looking after them.

During one of the nights as the beds were full Lyceum was on call and sat watching over a series of patients. There was a raid in which Marines rushed in to not only kill the patients but the doctors too, to hopefully lower chances of the revolutionaries getting back on their feet. Whilst attacking Lyceum & other doctors attempted to fight back. They struggled due to such little combat training most of them had but due to a few who were exceptional martial artists they managed to repel the attack.

Discussing with one another the best way to be ready for any more attacks that may be coming for them Lyceum stated that they should learn to fight. When the mention of firearms was brought up he shot it down and said no. He stated he hated how he'd seen so many people back on the small island with bullet wounds because these men were cowards and it made him angry at all the work he'd be undoing. Other doctors agreed with this and denied the usage of firearms. Deciding that carefully precise attacks upon the foes were best the group started to develop a style of their own known as Surgery Style.

Surgery Style - Encountering other doctors in wars Lyceum helped create their fighting style. As they were expected to know how to look after themselves and didn't like using firearms due to the irritation of seeing how a person could shoot a hole in someone with such ease and how much they would have to go through to patch it up. Lyceum took it upon himself to help create Surgery style in which the doctors use their medical prowess to place people in life or death situations.

Agreeing upon the actions of it and the rules that they would not kill a person such as slit their throat but only put someone in a situation where they could die such as Carotid Stinger. This way they would decide their own fate.

When the next attack came which was much more stealthy the doctors were able to utilize this combat style with efficiency and repel the attacks with ease. During which time Lyceum decided to try something new a style he refereed to as Stitch-Up Style but other doctors saw it as pointless and denied any agreement to using it when Surgery Style was working so well for them all. Understanding these comments Lyceum got back to work once more.

As he left the island and headed to the next one Lyceum started to realize that in all of this time he had only been growing older and older and looking at Redbeard he saw how he had a family despite being a notorious revolutionary. It made him feel sad seeing how all of these people had families of their own and that he didn't have one of his own and hadn't had much of a childhood himself. He knew that it wasn't possible for him. Just watching other families grow and his own die Lyceum realized he was the last of his family. Along with his age he realized he had a strong addiction to pain killers and left the revolutionaries behind. In order to start off a family of his own he would need to wipe his name from them. Once he had done so and they had an agreement that he was too old for service and troubled by his past in which he couldn't save his dad, was denied his childhood, denied a family and forced to harm other people in way of protecting others he headed out to sea.

Whilst sailing alone he ran out of food and medicine. Lying in agonizing pain aboard the small ship he took this as a sign that he should suffer for his past transgressions. Crying he remembered all of the horrible things he had to see in his life. His father's battered body, his father's corpse, the mountains of patients he lost during operations and the soldiers he tortured who came after him. Closing his eyes and waiting for death to take him he let the tears stream down his face and his life come to an end.

Smelling candles burning Lyceum opened his eyes to a large stone room where he had been taken and treated. He didn't know where he was or why and as he tried getting to his feet a young religious man entered and sat beside him telling him not to get up. The two conversed and when Lyceum told the man he was waiting for his death he asked. "Why?" Lyceum told him "I've done so many bad things, I've tortured people, I've failed saving people and I'm the end of my family. Perhaps that's a good thing though. One less evil person in the world. I'm sorry I couldn't make my father proud of me, he must be so ashamed of me. Turning in his grave right now." "A father is always proud of his son for his accomplishments, and men who have demons always get whats coming to them, whose to say you weren't what was coming to them?" "But if I've been bad, doesn't that mean something or someones is coming for me?" "Possibly, but you have been allowed to live for a long time instead of having your life ended in war. Doesn't that say something about weather or not you've done right or wrong?" "Maybe that I'm lucky" "Lucky? Or are you doing God's work?" "I don't know."

After their chat and Lyceum was given the time to heal up and make enough medicine to relieve him of pain he took with him the belief that when he attacks a person it is because he is doing the work of the good & the bad. He is taking evil from the world and giving it the chance to change or die. Taking his first steps out back into the wide open sea he felt better about himself and made sure this time he was well stocked. With his father in memory he aimed to head out to sea and make his dreams a reality in anyway he possible that he could.

But the one thing he held in the back of his mind, his greatest fear.

Something or someone is coming for him and all of his crimes too.

Abilities

Dexterity
Whilst working as a doctor for most of his life Lyceum has found himself in many situations in which he has had to put his skills to use in slicing people up with his scalpels, sewing people up with his small hook & thread and even injecting people to save their lives.

Knowledge of Narcotics
Working for many years in hospitals mixing medicines, herbs and more he has learned how to create drugs of all kinds and treat many wounds including things such as provide himself with artificial adrenaline & pain killers when it is needed which is almost all of the time.

Surgery Style
encountering other doctors in wars Lyceum helped create their fighting style.

Stitch-Up Style
This is a small fighting style of his own in which he uses his hook & sewing thread as a slight distraction. It isn't well defined as an actual fighting style among others though as it currently is mostly used for the part of distraction as opposed to actual combat but Lyceum refers to it as a unique style of torture in which a person is given the choice to suffer with long periods of minimal pain or second of excruciating pain.

Combat Information
"Scoliosis won't hold back a primal beast, so it shan't hold me back either"

Unarmed Combat

Epinephrine
Injecting himself or friends with artificial adrenaline from the syringe Lyceum gives himself or his friends a boost of energy to last them for 20 posts. This cannot be done more than 3 times per thread for risk of an over dose though.

Side Effects: Chest feels hot & erection/gets wet. These side effects last for as long as the drug lasts.

Surgery Style: Pendulum Eye
When close enough Lyceum places his thumb next to the eye and pushes back as well as inwards to fit their thumb towards the back of the eye and pops it out of the socket in which the eye ball will be left hanging by the optic nerve.

Surgery Style: Chiropractor
Flattening the palm and slamming his hand into a foe's back Lyceum is able to partially paralyze a foe by coming into contact with certain segments of the spine. This will cause the foe to be paralyzed for 5 posts.

Weapon Based Combat:

Surgery Style: Imbalance
Using his scalpels Lyceum attempts to slash his foe's big toes off to decrease the foe's balance.

Surgery Style: Carotid Stinger
Attempting to slash at his foe's carotid artery this will cause the foe to bleed to death if not treated within 20 posts. If the foe does anything to increase the blood flow then the foe will die after 20 posts. If they treat the wound then it can be stopped.

Surgery Style: Roman Suicide
Taking his scalpel and digging it into his foe's thigh Lyceum attempts to cut an artery which the roman's used to cut causing them to bleed to death. Like the Carotid Stinger this will cause the foe to bleed to death if not treated within 20 posts. If the foe does anything to increase the blood flow then the foe will die after 20 posts. If they treat the wound then it can be stopped.

Surgery Style: Blood Fountain
Using his scalpel to slash through the waist of his foe Lyceum cuts their main artery & capileries causing blood to gush forth like a fountain.

Surgery Style: Monoclaw
Using a small blade Lyceum places a single blade in their hand and only lets the blade protrude between their fingers whilst holding the rest of the blade with their hand. This allows them to punch and stab the opponents at the same time. It also allows the user to still use both hands as the blade is held in between their fingers.

Surgery Style: Duoclaw
Exactly the same as Monoclaw only with a blade in each hand instead of just the one. Using a small blade the user places a single blade in each hand and only lets the blade protrude between their fingers whilst holding the rest of the blade with their hand. This allows them to punch and stab the opponents at the same time. It also allows the user to still use both hands as the blade is held in between their fingers.

Surgery Style: Open Hand
Using any type of blade Lyceum digs the blade into the foe's wrist and twists it activating nerves to cause the user to open their hand and drop whatever they are holding on to.

Surgery Style: Bone Pile
Using a blade Lyceum stabs the blade into the back a foe between two platelets popping the gel in between the bones. This will permanently paralyze the foe and once they remove the blade, the foe will fall to the floor permanently paralyzed. This technique can paralyze someone for life.

Stitch-Up Style: Fisherman's Capture
Using his hook & sewing thread Lyceum quickly sews two his foe's limbs together. He does so by piercing the hook through skin on both limbs then quickly ties the limbs together quickly with the thread before slicing the end with his scalpel. Leaving the foe with two limbs attached to one another the thread is easy to break but it will cause pain and tear through the skin.

Stitch-Up Style: Wasp's Tail
Pinpointing some of the most sensitive points on the body, Lyceum slips the hook through them and then uses it to tug on the foe leaving them in pain and slightly like a puppet to him as he can pull them about or if they refuse to be pulled on by it then they will open themselves to pain of having the thread ripped through their skin unless they can cut it.
