Another boring day?....Maybe not

"Another boring day, Another boring Island, Another boring Village...nothing fun every happens anymore"

Grumbles Crow as she stares up at the blue sky that made her frown under her doctors mask. It was so unlike the dark black rain clouds that always surrounded her home Island, but quickly pushed the thought from her mind, it had already been two years since that night and still she could not return to the place she called home...

With a groan and the slight popping of her bones Crow stretched and stood up "Guess Ill go look at the Wanted board...again" She says as she starts to walk across the rooftops towards the towns Wanted board hoping she would finally see that mans face pinned up among the countless others. As she walked she hummed a old song she couldn't remember where she had learned and soon the humming turned to singing

As she sung the song slowly became darker,but if it had always was like that she didn't know, but soon she stopped paying attention to were she had been walking and all of a sudden she went from seeing a dark childhood song to falling down the roof as her weight caused a lose shingle to slide out from under her.

She felt more of the shingles break off in chunks or coming off completely some putting deep cuts hands and face ,poking through the small holds in her clothes causing cuts to her arms and legs. Until what felt like an eternity of rolling like a rag doll did she finally rolling off the roof and falling towards the ground, with nothing to grab onto Crow thought of anyway something good could come out of falling off a roof.

"Well at lest today was a little exciting.." She thought but the logic in her mind answered back
"Yeah...but you'll most likely break a bone or two from this.."

Ordinary days. That's what people'd call these kind of bland, inactive days. Sure, people still go to work and go shopping for groceries and all that jazz, but does anything really out of the ordinary happen during those days? Well, they wouldn't be "ordinary" if they had strange occurrences happening every hour. For many people lounging in the local tavern that day, it certainly wasn't going to be an "ordinary day".

There was a man who was five foot seven with dreadlocks getting on people's nerves, as if asking for a fight. Well, more like it was people getting on his nerves. Some random man who was the target and victim of one of his pickpocketings caught him in the act and confronted him directly about it. The man with dreadlocks denied it, claiming that it was his wallet. Unfortunately, his lie didn't go very far as identification that didn't belong to him fell out of the wallet unexpectedly. Soon enough, the entire tavern was backing up the victim and demanding him to return the wallet. Not wanting to kick an entire tavern's face in (although he really could), he begrudgingly returned the wallet and was promptly kicked out.

"Agh, well this sucks." Monokibei said as he examined his almost empty gourd of alcohol. Only place that serves booze and he was kicked out and probably banned from going back in there. He definitely was not going to be a happy, drunk camper until he reached the next island. Monokibei could feel the buzz of whiskey start to die down, but it wasn't exactly too bad yet. Yet. If only he hadn't been caught picking pockets, but that's just an "if" and in the past now. Might as well focus on where to scrounge up the money to buy a ticket to another island. Of course, pick pocketing.

As if it wasn't obvious enough for Monokibei. Like he'd ever be able to get a job working as an actual shipwright, fixing up ships. Nobody would ever hire him cause of his drinking problem. And besides, it'll take too long for him to apply for a job, get accepted and work to the next paycheck when he could get one off the street in a few minutes. He needed to get off fast, or go back in with a disguise. Either way would work, really, but one of them felt like it was just slightly easier for the drunk.

He casually walked down the streets, thinking about what he should do and what he was going to dress up as to get back into the tavern.

I could put on a mustache and a trench coat with a hat, or maybe a full suit with a mustache. Maybe a bald, fat man with a mustache. Nah, I have too much hair for that.

His thoughts were very rudely interrupted he heard something tumbling down from above, then the silhouette of someone just a few meters in front of him. Instinctively, he rushed on over in an instant and got ready to catch this falling person. Monokibei made a good catch, but almost immediately fell to the ground from the force this person generated from the fall. He...or she looked like a creepily dressed little girl, but something told the drunk that there was more to them than meets the eye. He pulled the probably-child up to their feet and began to disguise a pickpocket attempt by brushing dust off of their clothes.

"Bloody hell, kiddo. What the hell were you doing up there? You could've killed yourself with that fall." Monokibei said as he brushed and felt up any pockets for a wallet or pouch of some sort. "Good thing someone as fast as me was close by, else you'd probably have a cracked skull or something like that."

Crow had closed her eyes waiting for the inevitable pain of hitting the hard ground,to hear at lest one of her bones break and was surprised at the much softer landing.

Upon opening her eyes she found that instead of being on the ground, but in a strangers arms. She was shocked for a few moments but quickly snapped out of it at the feeling of her mask starting to slip. As she fixes it smearing it in the blood that slowly drips from her hands.

Once that was done she spoke her voice soft and slightly muffled from the mask. "The roof tops are much less crowded the the streets" She says simply before pulling a roll of gaze from in her pocket, she always kept a roll on her just in case of emergency.

"Thank you for catching me, they really need to replace some of these shingles.." She says as she removes a shard from her hand before warping them up,the silver bell in her hair ringing out in the air.

Gross, this girl was leaking blood. Monokibei did his best to avoid the bodily fluids, as he did not know where she had been or if she was infected with some kind of weird disease, hence the mask she was wearing. Didn't even looked like she cared about the blood leaking from her hand, as she smeared it over the mask like war paint. As he finished feeling up the pockets, the only thing he really felt was a roll of something, but it definitely wasn't a wallet or purse or anything of the such.

"The roofs are less...Kiddie, you can't just walk 'round the...Well, whatever. Just be more careful." Monokibei said in a rather concerned tone, as if he was the caretaker of this child. He stood up to leave just as the kid was wrapping up their hand, but then he had a slick idea to combat his alcoholism at its finest. If he couldn't go into the tavern, maybe this kid could buy the drinks for him. Sounded like a good plan, but the drunk didn't know if he could trust this child; after all, they might just run off with the cash he'll probably steal from someone. Whatever, go with the gut and the temptation.

"Say, boy. You up for a little job?" He asked as he scratched his chin slightly.

"Perhaps..." She say shaking the sleeve of her jacket to remove any shards that may of gotten stuck inside it. It would of been easier to just take off her jacket to remove them but then she would have to walk around with many of her scars in site, and that simply wouldn't do.

As she played with the blood covered shard rolling it between her fingers needing something to do,she had been standing still for far to long.

"Though I should at lest hear you out...you mostly likely saved my life after all.."

She says more to herself then to this stranger watching her hands spin and roll the shard, a test to see if anything was badly damaged,nothing did but that didn't mean it didn't hurt,if it did it hurt like hell but as she tore her eyes from her hands to look up at this stranger it did not show.

"So...What sort of job?" She says with a mischievous look in her eyes.

She's on board with the idea, great. Weird kid, though. Monokibei was still confused about whether this was a boy or a girl, seeing as he's seen some bizarre people and creatures that made him question what they were. Anyways, he or she was on board and that was good.

"Not much, not much..." He said as he purposely walked off and crashed into a woman before returning with a money-filled purse. He quickly rifled through the belongings before taking out all of the cash in there and tossing the purse onto the ground. Not like he needs anything else from that.

"'Kay, here's the plan. The local tavern won't let me go in anymore and I need some booze. Go buy me some or whatever, I'll let you keep whatever's left. Let's see....Ten bottles should be enough." Monokibei said as he pondered if ten bottles would be enough to keep him through.

"Yeah, ten bottles. Get going." He uttered as he shoved the money into her chest and started to lean on the wall.

"What....but thats no fun.." She says hoping to go on some amazing adventure or something cool like that. She sighs, it looked like today was back to being boring...oh well might as well make it fun somehow. Suddenly she snaps to attention and salutes him.

 "Alright then Operation Drunken Nightmare is a go!" She says with a creepy giggle before with a firm grip on the money she goes off, Skipping towards the tavern,it wasn't until she was in front of its door that she stopped suddenly "Ah! I forgot to ask him what kind he wanted.....hmmm...Oh well.." She says pushing the door open.

It was a simple task, how could the kid fail? He gave her an adequate amount of money and she looked innocent(?) enough to pull it off. Probably might kicked out cause she's not old enough, probably, but you never know; Monokibei's met bartenders who've served kids before. Just in case a commotion happened in the tavern, Monokibei walked there and stood on the other side of the road, directly in front of the building.

Crow walked into the bar, the door swinging open with a creak and the eyes of a few patrons and the bartender casting a strange glance towards her. None of them knew her, but they had minds good enough to know to keep an eye on people they didn't recognize, else they'd end up with empty pockets or worse. They gave her a look for a second or two, then immediately went back to their drinking and merriment.

The bartender in particular, was particularly eyeful of the young lass walking in. A young-looking girl dressed rather strangely with the intention to purchase some alcohol. Normally, he wasn't above selling kids alcohol (much to the outcry of many parents in this town), but there was something about her that made it difficult for him to sell to her. Nonetheless, he still put on his business face and prepared himself to sell some booze.

Crow smiled up at the bartender,or at lest looked like she was as the bottom half of her face was still covered by her mask. "Hello my good Sir,If I may I would like to buy ten bottles of sake please" At her words the small amount of chatter stopped as many sneaked a peek towards the two. Would the Bartender sell that much Sake to a child?

Suddenly Crow opened one eye slightly at the sound of chairs scraping before footsteps could be heard and a hand landing on her shoulder. "Hey kid,there's no way you could drink that much sake...so why not share some huh?"

Crow turned her eyes once again closed as she continued to smile it was rather creepy to be honest. "No thanks I'm not really one for sharing...and may I ask you to remove your hand? I don't like to be touched.." She says her eyes opening slightly to glare back at the group. With all the injuries she had already they didn't need to get any worse by putting their filthy hands all over her.

"Ten sake bottles, alright, l'il miss." The bartender replied with a casual tone, trying his best to not be suspicious or in any way rude enough to drive away a potential customer. Besides, she was paying quite a bit for all those bottles. Naturally, the bartender went about his task and brought out ten oriental-looking containers of sake, sealed up and ready for consumption. As soon as he brought all the bottles onto the counter, he patiently awaited for the little miss to show the cash or get tossed out. He had to deal with a pickpocket earlier today and he wasn't looking for any more trouble in his establishment.

Crow seemed to be in a little bit of a predicament herself, and although she was trying to be intimidating with her glare, it didn't look like it was working too well against inebriated men who work manual labour for a living. Maybe it was the alcohol getting to them, which loosened them up and gave the one bothering the child-like woman the confidence to ask someone that question.

Meanwhile. Monokibei was outside waiting patiently, trying to peer through the windows from a distance, although those people-like figures in there look like they're doing something, he didn't know what was going on at all. Didn't look like anything major was going on in there, so everything must be fine, right?

Crow waited rocking on her heels for the Bartender while continuously brushing the mans hand off her shoulder,each time his grip would return tighter and tighter. 

But still Crow stood waiting patiently until the man returned where she pulled out the money counted out and placed it on the counter with a little extra on top before she points towards a small bottle on plain beer. 

Once she had it she quickly pulled down her mask opened it and chugged it. Now normally Crow didn't drink especially if she was injured and she could feel the group around her starring before she pulls the bottle from her lips suddenly and sighs pulling her mask back up and picked the bottles of sake in one arm before turning towards the man who was griping her aching shoulder. "I warned you.." 

She says softly barely a whisper. "Huh? What did y-" Started the man,but he hadn't gotten to finish when the now empty beer bottle collided and shattered with the side of his face,not enough to damage anything but enough to stun his and stumble back letting her go.

  "Thanks for the drink old man,but its time for me to go." She says to the bartender with a wink before quickly dodging and moving around the drunken group,their sluggish movements making it easy to get around. As she reached the door she heard the man she had hit yell out "You Brat,You'll regret that!" But she just chuckles and quickly ran out the door the ten sake bottles now in her arms along with a little money she had left.

And so Monokibei waited, and he waited, until he could wait no longer and soon died from lack of interest. No, not really, but he was pretty bored with the waiting. Lucky for him, Crow got out alive and with what looked like ten bottles of whatever alcohol she bought from the guy. Looked like something did very much happen, judging from what she looked like (although she already looked like in a rough shape to begin with), but Monokibei didn't really want to bother asking about it; he's got booze to drink, after all.

But along with the girl and the booze she was carrying, an angry man was chasing after her. Hopefully, there weren't any other implications behind this mess. Nonetheless, she was a courier for Monokibei and she'll get the protection she deserves from him. The drunk quickly blasted off of the wall and ran past the girl to give the angry man a nice knee to the stomach like WHAM! He grabbed the dude by the shoulders and pushed him down while bringing his right knee up. One knee was all it took to make him crumple to the ground, just one.

"Alright, cool," Monokibei plainly spoke as he brushed some dust off of his pant leg. "'Kay, now gimme that booze. And keep the change. It ain't even mine."

Crow looked back as he took out the large drunken man her hand dropping from were she had been reach for her scythe. She handing him all the bottles,nodding as she pocketed the leftover cash. She had turned to leave and continue looking for the wanted boards when she stopped.

There was another reason she had been on the rooftops,it was easy to tell where everything was but now that she was on the street everything looked different. She was a doctor not a navigator after all,but she wasn't going to risk climbing the rooftops again,if she fell again next time there might not be anyone to catch her.

So with a slight sigh she turns back to the stranger again "Hey...you uh..Wouldn't know where the wanted boards in this place are would you?" She says rubbing the back of her head sheepishly with a chuckle.

NICE! Very nice, Bottles of sake. Not exactly the drink of choice for him, but hey, he ain't gonna complain. He greedily snatched up the bottles of alcohol and immediately emptied some into his gourd and placed the rest into his satchel. Not like he was gonna hold all those bottles in his hand. He was about to turn and leave when the kiddo asked where the bounty board was.

"Wanted boards, eh? Hm....I dunno, maybe. Probably. Yeah, no. Wait, yeah, I do know where it is."

The drunk really worked hard to wrack his brain about where this bounty board would be, although it probably might be in the tavern for all he knew, but who knows, it might be in the town square or outside the local Marine HQ, if this place even had one.

"Eh, just follow me and I might find out where it is," The drunk said as he turned one direction, looked back at the girl and wagged a finger with his empty hand. "Probably somewhere this way..."

He walked around town aimlessly, going to specific locations where he thought the board would be but ultimately wasn't. Town square, nope. Tavern, not a trace. Marine HQ was his final stop, and it wasn't the best place for him to look, seeing as he's a wanted criminal and he'll probably get shot on site.

"Okay, here we are. Marine HQ, and there's the bounty board! Right beside the front door. Convenient, right?"

Crow followed the man,and soon found that they were walking around the whole town her. Maybe she should of looked by herself,but then she could of been wandering for much longer then they had.

She was about to voice her complains and ask him if he was lost when he pointed out the board...right next to the front doors of the marine HQ..."haha..yeah convenient.."

She says with a nervous chuckle. She could just wait until the sunset but then what if someone found the poster she was looking for and took it? She could lose the only lead he had for months...but then what if someone recognized her while she was looking? 

She didn't really blend in with her torn and tattered clothes and doctors mask that covered over half of her face. Not to mention the blood and injuries. She could just get captured going out like this....risk capture or find a possible lead to her search? "What to do...What to do..?"

"Yeah, super convenient!" Monokibei exclaimed somewhat sarcastically. He had absolutely no idea what this creepy looking girl wanted out of that bounty board (hopefully it wasn't his bounty), but he wasn't going to stay and find out. Well, maybe after he looks at his bounty picture. Even he wants to look good in photo, and it's not like the Marines change that photo monthly.

Maybe just one peak at his picture. He casually walked up to the board and looked at it for his poster and wouldn't you know, there it was on the top left corner. He pulled it off the board and inspected the picture, hoping that it was good. Nope, it was pretty shitty. It looked like the photographer caught him in the middle of a drunken talk; His face as all funny looking, one eye slightly closed, mouth in a weird position, alcohol was actually being spilled on him in the picture, and it looked like the bartender in the back was looking pretty angry at someone, probably Monokibei.

Disgusted and disappointed with the photo, Monokibei folded it up and ripped it shreds with a blank look on his face. He walked back up to the girl still standing there with a look that said, "I have no idea what to do."

"I'm done with this. Go knock yourself out with that thing." Monokibei said tiredly as he thought of ways to get a new photo taken.

Crow sighs finally after giving it some thought,she couldn't give up now,besides until she proved her innocence to this murder she could never go home again. "Lets just hope this doesn't get me killed.." She says before stepping out in the daylight,flinching slightly before starting to make her way towards the board,and stopped in front of it, her eyes scanned the posters before quickly snatching up her own wanted poster.

 It had been a while since she had seen one of her own,and was quick to take it down and stuff it in her pocket,planing to look at it later.

Then she quickly went back to searching and with a sigh was about to give up when she spotted it,an ice blue eyes peaking out,half covered by other posters,but still she knew those eyes,they haunted her dreams every night...now if only she was tall enough to reach the top corner.

So Crow did the most common thing she and most kids her height tried to do when things were out of their reach. She jumped and flailed her arms around desperate to reach the poster but she would have to hurry as this would soon call unwanted attention to herself.

What could Monokibei do to get another photo taken? His current photo looks like absolute garbage, which gives the impression that he is absolute garbage! Well, not really once people look at his bounty. People will probably take him less seriously though. Whatever, getting a new photo taken would probably be too much of a hassle anyways. Now with that out of the way, Monokibei went back to business and took a nice, long swig of sake to calm him down and make him happy. He emptied out a quarter of a bottle in one gulp, and he sighed a sigh of relief and happiness. Might not be his drink of choice, but it still tasted decent.

He turned around and looked at the girl jumping around and flailing her arms trying to reach for something high up on the poster board. The sheer sight of this pathetic display made Monokibei let out a laugh made him pity her enough to help the little lass with whatever she wants from there. It was like she was trying to reach for some cookies on the top shelf but she can't reach it cause she's too SHORT! Heh.

"No need to jump like that, tall guy's got you covered," Monokibei gloated as he walked up smugly to the board. "A'ight, so which one you want? This one? Or this one? Or is it this dude with the blue eyes? Or this gal with the dark hair? Or this ugly girl with the teeth?"

Heh. Short people are funny to make fun of. To mock her even further, he placed his hand on her head and rubbed it like the little girl she was. So it was the guy with blue eyes, cool. Not sure why she wanted it, maybe sentimental value or something. Maybe he's her dad or something. Who knows. Monokibei himself didn't really care, he just felt a little bad this girl can't reach high enough for much. He could even see how angry she was about how smug the drunk was about his height in comparison to her height.

Getting over his moment of smugness, Monokibei removed the poster of the man with blue eyes from the wall and shortly glanced at the picture before handing it to the little lady. Damn, even this guy looks more badass than him in this! Damn, this is starting to piss the drunk off more than usual! Maybe it's cause he wasn't drunk enough for this shit.

"Gotcha, gotcha, little lassie. Here's the poster. So, what, is he special to you or somethin' like that?" Monokibei asked rather nonchalantly. No feelings or any conceivable notion that he was aware of her intentions for that man on the poster.

Shortly after, a group of Marines walked out of the front door while chatting to each other nonchalantly. Everything was going fine and swell until one Marine decided to speak up.

"Sniff, sniff...Whoo boy! What the hell reeks around here!? Smells like someone pissed out beer and whiskey this morning!"

"Oh boy, here we fuckin' go again..."

Crow took the poster and scanned it,it was yellowed with age and the reward amount was missing,but she didn't care she wasn't in it for the money anyways.

"Laughing Jack" was all it said for his name,guess even some people are a mystery to the government. As she looked at the mans face she could see how he had earned his nickname. The mans pale face was splattered with blood and his shining white teeth were turned up in a wide crazed smile as if he had been in the middle of laughing madly when it was taken.

"I don't like when other people frame me for a crime I didn't commit.." She says as she folds it up and stuffs it in her pocket with the other poster.

It quickly became apparent that her silent prayers went unheard as one of them spoke out most likely bout her alcohol drinking companion. Now they just had to comment on her shortness..

"Ah look at the Chibi!" Said a female causing a anger vein to throb on her head. Normally she would of just let it go,but what happened next would push her over the edge and make her do something...rather childish..

Another one of the marines would walk over place his hand on her head,and started leaning on her. "Wow you really are a Chibi,aren't you?" Not only were they making fun on her shortness but now this idiot was leaning on her like a damn table?! This would cause two more veins to appear on her head. "Thats it.." She says before reaching up to her mask. "Huh? What are you gonna- AHHH!" 

He says suddenly screaming in pain as he should have. Crow pissed off  had pulled off her mask in anger revealing her scared face and with her other hand had griped his hand brought it to her mouth and...sunk her teeth deep into his hand making blood splatter to the ground as her teeth dug deep into his hand.

She soon had to grip tighter as she was lifted off the ground as he desperately swung his arm trying to get her to let go,but it only made her dig her teeth in deeper.

"Every bloody island, some jackass always comments about the smell..." Monokibei sighed out loud as he rolled his eyes and crossed his arms.

"You're damn right you smell! Now get away from here 'fore I shoot you back into the trash where you belong?" The Marine retorted as he plugged his nose and tried to walk menacingly towards the drunk.

"How about you shut the fuck up before I punch your face in?" If this asshole was going to pick a fight, he and everyone else was going to fucking get one, and it wasn't going to be pretty.

On the other hand, little lady lolita over there was already on the move after being called a "chibi". Not exactly a word he knows, but it must be insulting... Seeing how she was already fucking their days up, Monokibei decided to join in on the fun too. Just one punch to the guy's face caused him to stumble back and fall over from the pain. It wasn't even his full power yet either. With that done, the rest of the Marines decided to spring into action and pull out their weapons. Before jumping into all of this, the drunk took another swig of sake before upping his fists.

The group he jumped into were scared shitless when he performed his patented『Butterfly Bomber』. All of them were so stunned at Monokibei's sheer speed that the minute they raised their weapons, he dashed forward like greased lightning and instantly hammered one of them in the face. He quickly turned to face another one and threw another sick haymaker that connected so hard, that it was a surprise that the poor Marine's head didn't come flying off. Monokibei turned around just in time to block a sword from hitting him by catching it between his palms. Obviously, he was open then and caused some other Marines to try and attack him then.

One Marine on both his left and right side, and one in front, all with swords. When both of them were in range, Monokibei jumped up and kicked both of them in the chest before letting go of the sword only to step back and jump upon and tackle the Marine that just attacked him.

Crow released her grip on the marines arm and hand being flung upwards as a result. Crow quickly pulled out her scythe,the blood red blade shone brightly in the sunlight. Swinging her blade downwards as she started to fall,the Marine had not been ready for her Heaven Falls technique. She made sure to miss any vital points so he didn't bleed to death.

She landed on her feet as she watched the man fall over bloody,before turning to the few Marines that her drunk friend wasn't fighting and smiled wide showing in between her teeth,a human finger. She spit it out a wiped the blood from her lips. She didn't want to fight anymore but that was before one of them spoke up,the women that had first called her chibi. "Y-You're a fucking Monster!"

The air around Crow grew cold as her hand fell from her mouth her bangs covered her eyes. "A monster eh?.." She says before looking up at them her smile now twisted into something insane,her large eyes cold and her slitted pupils almost seemed to vanish.

She took a couple slow stumbling steps towards the small group as she started to laugh. It started as a soft chuckle but was quickly growing louder into something more crazed. "You want a monster? Alright then!" 

She says now fully into her Shattered Mind state and it showed as she took off rushing towards them zigzagging this way and that as she raised her scythe and slashed it from the poor souls shoulder to his hip. 

She had cut him so deep that she had to pause a moment to pull out the blade as it wouldn't give at the first tug.This of course left her open to attack causing another marine to charge in for the attack.

Obviously, that tackle didn't even knock the guy out, but it did daze him enough to really knock him out with a nice slobber knocker to the face. The kicks he did to the other two Marines also didn't knock them out, but they were starting to panic a little after getting their asses handed to them on silver platters. They actually hesitated to grab their weapons and try to attack the drunk head on, and they were smart and didn't attack him. Instead, they ran back into the headquarters to alert this disaster that was happening right in front of their HQ.

Monokibei just let them run away, seeing as he liked a good fight with someone other than filthy, jobbing mooks. Besides, he still had a few more to take care of, in case this little lass who was chewing someone's face off bites off a little more than she could chew. Actually, he changed his mind; He wasn't letting this butts run away from him. Before they made it to the door, Monokibei ran up beside both of them and leaped forward while grabbing the backs of their heads and slammed both of their faces into the ground. It's so easy being fast; nothing can outrun him.

With that out of the way, Monokibei dusted off his hands and looked back at the girl whose name he was never introduced to or just plain forgot. Regardless, he noticed she was in a bit of a pickle at that moment. Well, she seemed preoccupied at the moment. He looked over to the left and saw one single Marine left with a rifle in his hands, aimed directly at the little girl.
