Kuricul

Basic Information

Name: Kuricull

Location/Geography: West Blue.

Territory Owner/Ruler: Fischer Dredd.

Sign/Flag: No flag.

Population:
79 human settlers.
Five giants.
Twelve half-giants.

Advanced Information

Appearance: Kuricul is a large island, sixteen kilometers all around. It has many mountains upon the north eastern side of the island, just short of the Brakken’s influence, where the birds usually live. Humans are settled upon a space just outside of the main island, upon the south, where there’s a big beach. The northernmost tip of the island has a cliff, upo which the Brakken, (a large tree) resides. The entire island is elevated apart from the human settlement, which is just above sea-level, humans have to walk up a slope in order to get there. The outlying edges of the island is generally home to the breeding grounds of animals, while the middle is where they hunt. Most animals have their own territory where they’re at their thickest, though often wander into neutral or the territory of other creatures. There is one massive mountain upon the southern part of the island, which is home to the Girallons.

History: Long ago, there was a normal balance of predator and prey. However, the predators soon hunted the weak prey to extinction. In order to survive, the predators had to eat other predators and the surviving prey had to become hardier.  They grey and adapted, when the first humans came to the island expecting a free hunting grounds, they found the opposite of what they were expecting. In the first few hours, most of the humans were dead or disappeared. The rest fled and told the world what a horror it was. The island soon became considered as one of the most dangerous islands in all of the blues, and they wondered why it wasn’t in the Grand Line. More humans came, more humans fell to the islands’ harshness. It became apparent that they could only make small settlements, and boats to escape an animal breakout from the forest.

Soon, one of the largest white-furred and four-armed gorillas approached the settlements approached, thumping its chest, and pointing at the various imported fruits. They offered it, and he took the fruit and left. A couple of days later, the village came under attack by one of the serpentine species, only for it to be beaten back by a sudden surge of Girallons. It soon became apparent that in order to survive, they had to pay tribute to the king of the forest, Fischer Dredd. He was a smart one for his species, picking up words from the human settlers, interested that they were so small and easy to kill individually, but together they were semi-formidable.  Soon even wandering giants came to the island, seeking to truly see if the islands’ reputation was deserved, charging headlong into the forest.

Not many survived, they declared it to be a ‘good show’, and settled amongst the villagers in order to grow stronger.

Animals/Wildlife: The animals all but flood the island. Though there are humans, they are not considered the rulers. The most intelligent creatures are the legendary Girallons. Their alpha is called Fischer Dredd, who is said to be able to speak the common tongue; albeit poorly. The islands’ animals are predators on top of predators on top of predators.

Government: The World Government has declared this island a ‘red zone’, and is declared unfit for a human settlement of significant worth. Despite the patrols around the island however, they do not stop people from trying their worth. Upon the island, it has a small village upon the beach, with only one dock. The village leader is a man called Korral. Upon the island, the eldest is the leader, since they’ve survived the terrors of the island. Despite having no World Government authority upon it, they still pay them tribute with a few people to join the Navy every once in a while (to cut away population, if they had too many, then they would become more of a hunting target, the more animals there are in one spot, the more likely they are to be attacked).

NPC Information

This is where you write in information about any npcs that may inhabit the island

Special Information

Bestial Glossary:  (Note: Most of these has been named by Fischer Dredd during his offering-days, Cheshire Hyenas are nicknames by the humans)

Girallons: These creatures resemble apes, but are much larger, more cunning and a higher bloodlust. If it weren’t for the village’s offerings, they would have destroyed it years ago. Their alpha is ancient, one of the oldest creatures on the island, and quite enjoys foreign fruits. They have white fur, the smallest stands at nine feet tall, and have three sets of limbs, two legs and four arms. They outwit their prey, separating it from the rest and rip it apart, are quite strong for their size, one of the stronger ones being able to halt a Skulluk charge.

Spoiler:

Catoblepas:  These are extremely long, almost bloated-looking bison’s with short legs. Most of the length from these creatures come from their necks, which are snake-like. They mostly have blood-shot eyes and with a… Disturbing face.  It resembles something like a warped warthog. It is an omnivore, and was one of the prey on the island. Now it excludes pheromones that causes people to feel something akin to pure fear and terror. As expected, though it is one of the weaker and less dangerous creatures on the island, it is definitely the most feared. Some people have even died of fright after coming too close to a Catoblepas  breeding ground. (( NOTE: The original Catoblepas creature in D&D and legend can kill you with a look, though I’ve substituted it for this)

Spoiler:

Skulluks: Large-legged creatures with no arms, they have a little resemblance to humans, though that’s mostly because they’re bipedal and have human-like skin. They’re fat though have quick bursts of speeds. They have extremely sharp teeth, bloated-looking eyes that nearly pop out of their skulls while chasing prey. They’re generally the ones who terrorise the humans, since they see only weak and defenceless prey. They have a caste-like system, Skulluk thralls are quite small in comparison, around eight feet tall. Their purpose is to clear away creatures with a furious charge, build small shelters and be meat shields. Skulluk grunts are taller, at eleven feet tall and venture into other animals’ territory to gather food. The worst and most vicious kind do not have any other name than a ‘Skulluk’, they’re the tallest at fifteen feet tall, and are generally the biggest, fattest and female for breeding. Skulluk charges are one of the most dreaded things on the island, due to all of their weight and strength going into their legs, the only things that can stop them are a Girallon patriarch/alpha, or the sea, since they can’t swim. Azure = animals, Green = plants, Yellow = insects.

Cheshire Hyenas: These are freaky as shit. Naturally scary, these panter-like creatures have some kind of facial structure that allows them to mimic the faces of other races, it can turn into a human-esque face, and they constantly grin. Their eyes and mouth for some reason glows in the dark, which is why people built high walls, not to keep the animals out, that was a bonus; but to stop them from seeing the creatures’ grins. The only parts of their eyes that don’t glow is their pupils, and they don’t even have colour. They hunt in packs half a dozen each, they are smaller than other species, but are more maneuverable, and able to jump to amazing heights. Their claws are sharp and long, their jumps are so fast and strong it almost looks like they just disappear. They absolutely love dust, and roll around in it whenever possible, which makes it look like they literally go “poof” when they flash-step. Their laughter once they’ve caught up to their prey is so loud it can deafen.

The Brakken: Not all of the predators on the island are mammals, this creature is a semi-sentient tree, and the northern tip of a cliff is where its rooted. It is a large tree, at around five meters. Its leaves are red as blood, with apparent healing properties. The trunk is a dark orange colour. Its roots extend toward the mountain, and can move a little like slow tentacles, it ensnares its prey by grabbing a body part, then other roots would entangle around it, applying more and more pressure until the creature’s skin ruptures so it can feed upon the blood. It’s been speculated that due to the high intake of blood by the tree, putting the leaves upon a wound is similar to having a blood transplant, but only when force is applied, otherwise it would do the opposite and drink from the wound like a sponge. A rare disease comes from the plant in which it causes schizophrenia and red eyes in an individual. It is currently unknown how this transpires.

Pokesas: These animals prey upon the northern tip, they multiply quickly and could have overrun the island if not for their dim intelligence and being the Brakken’s main food supply. They often charge at things that aren’t even there, run headfirst into an obvious Brakken-branch from nothing and don’t even realize it even when they are getting crushed to death. They are small monkey-like creatures with wings, their bones are hollow and therefore are able to fly, their hands have poison glands that secrete onto the nails, enough of the poison can be lethal. They were (and still are) prey of the island, and needed breed quickly in order for their kind of survive. Many a hundred Pokesa’s are born per year, and reach adulthood in two. However, their breading ground is upon the Brakken’s cliff, and not many reach adulthood. They go out once a week to collectively take down one of the creatures of the forest, and drag it to their breeding ground.

SlikSliks: These are reptile creatures the secrete some kind of lubricating sweat, that makes them hard to be grabbed without them slipping out of the person’s hands. They are snake-like, though small and take bites rather than swallow whole, this is mostly because they hunt by the dozen, and many other creatures are larger than they are.  They bite their prey to death, and bite chunks out of it, the first bite is for the immediate hunger, the second and third are placed in a secondary stomach for later ingestion. They vary in size, from one to two feet in length. Unlike normal snakes, or rahter; most creatures, their arms are inside their mouth, and therefore have a very wide and large face. This is to mold the food into a shape suitable for ingesting.

TyrannoMice: Named jokingly by the settlements, these creatures are nothing to laugh about. They tower above humans, at around twenty feet and are large mice, they are solitary creatures, only seeking out others to mate. They have extremely sharp teeth as well as claws with a long tail. They’re pretty much just large mice that usually walk on their two hind legs hunched.  Despite their height, they flee from Skulluks due to them not being able to withstand a charge. Due to being inherently a prey race, they are easily scared.

Spooners: Also named by the settlers, these creatures have large, long tongues that are shaped like spoons, when something (or someone) threads onto them, the creature raises the victim into the air and swallows it. They resemble large toads and are the size of a backyard shed. However, they only ingest the prey when they’re particularly hungry, and keep them In a second stomach for storage. They are vulnerable to being ripped apart by sharp objects.

Hups:: An extremely large bird, They do not like visitors in their nests. The only ones whom would even dare reside in the same mountain as them would be the Girallons, of whom they sometimes use as mounts. Ziz rarely leave the mountains, and seem quite attached to the island. They are around four meters in length, and their wingspan is three meters each. They’re massive eagles.

ShroomShrooms: These are weird creatures, somehow gained sentience and walk with thick, stumpy legs which have two sets (Like creepers from Minecraft). They’re poisonous to eat (other creatures on the island have gained an immunity), though most of their danger comes from the sheer punching power from a hidden limb underneath the mushroom head. Once they see prey, they would charge it and a piston-like arm would punch the opponent, enough to send them flying. They prefer to make a circle around the prey so that they can punch them to each other, until the prey is dead. They’re typically human-sized, and see through vibrations in the ground. They have large mouths without teeth, mostly to swallow rather than to bite.

Pops:: These insects appear to have some kind of volatile liquid in their backs. They’re around half a foot in length and can swell in order to make small explosions. There seems to be two kinds of liquid on their backs (in sacs), one is orange and another is yellow, once they latch onto a victim they mix the liquids and cause a chemical explosion as a suicide attack. The other Pops then eat what remains.  These explosions are about as strong as an anti-tank grenade.

Night Devils: These are creature that are usually hunched, and even then are around the same size as humans. Their skin is read, they have sharp claws and have horns on their head. The hierarchy depends on how many horns a night devil has on its head, it can have up to five horns, and the least is two. Their name comes from their red skin, to which bluffs other predators into believing that they’re poisonous. A fully mature, five-horned devil can reach to eleven feet (hunched), but they’re extremely rare, and automatically become alphas. A two-horned devil’s skull is so large it could be used as a helmet by humans of average size. True to their name, they only hunt at night, and loathe the sun. Their bones are also immensely strong (though heavy), and can be used to break concrete (should the person wielding it be strong enough). They have long, serrated tails and spikes along the back of their arms and elbows.

Lich-Fiends These mammals have exoskeletons, and their skulls are bare. They have a sharp face, looking almost human like, their skin flows down to the floor like robes underneath the bones. They stand up straight like humans, but are a little.. TOO straight, unlike other species in the island, they don’t hunch at all. They have extremely long fingers, and are prone to stealing infants from other species and bringing them to their nest for unknown reasons.

Humans: Some humans have given in to their primal instincts, and wander the forest for the thrill of the hunt. However, most humans stay in their settlement, along with half-giants and regular giants. Both humans, due to the isle’s nature have started to adapt, gaining sharper teeth for feeding upon the creatures they catch. The giants and the half-giants however, have not been on the island long enough to be affected as of yet. While humans use specialised guns, the giants use melee weapons, as well as ones fashioned from the animals they kill.
